Only a few hours separate us from the kick-off of the 7ᵉ edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN 2022) which will take place in Algeria from January 13 to February 4 of the current year. The inaugural ceremony of this prestigious African sporting event will be held this evening at the new Nelson-Mandela stadium in Beraki in Algiers.

Indeed, the kick-off of the 7ᵉ edition of the CHAN 2022 African Nations Championship (postponed to 2023) will be given this evening at the new Nelson-Mandela stadium in Baraki in Algiers. The opening match of this new edition of CHAN will oppose the national team A’ to its Libyan counterpart, this evening from 8 p.m. (19:00 GMT).

Moreover, the opening ceremony of CHAN 2022, which will take place this Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. at the Nelson Mandela stadium, promises to be grandiose and will see the participation of more emblematic figures of international and African football. In particular the president of FIFA, Gianni Infantino, and that of CAF, Patrice Motsepe. Or the Ghanaian John Paintsil, the Ivorian Siaka Tiene, and the former Algerian star Noureddine Bounaâs.

Opening of CHAN 2022: what are the transport points for supporters in Algiers?

In the same vein, it should be noted that the wilaya of Algiers has defined eight (8) transport points to allow supporters to travel to the Nelson-Mandela stadium in Baraki to attend the inaugural meeting of CHAN 2022 between the Algeria to Libya.

Thus, supporters will be able to reach the new Baraki stadium, in the suburbs of Algiers, this Friday, January 13, 2023, from 2 p.m. from the following transport points:

  • July 5 Olympic complex car park;
  • Birtouta (near the train station);
  • Car park on the Sablettes promenade (seafront);
  • Zéralda (near the train station);
  • In front of El Harrach train station;
  • Car park on the Sablettes promenade (OPLA);
  • Near the car park in old Kouba;
  • Tram stop at the shots.

In addition to transporting supporters to the Nelson-Mandela stadium in Baraki, the wilaya of Algiers also announced the installation of three (3) fan-zones on the territory of the wilaya, in order to allow the transmission, on screens giants, of all CHAN 2022 matches, including the opening match tonight. According to a publication of the wilaya of Algiers, these three fan-zones are located at:

  • The Sablettes promenade;
  • The place of Kitani in Bab El Oued;
  • The Bordj El Kiffan sports hall.

CHAN 2022: the Greens encourage local EN

Twelve years after its last and only participation in this African competition, Algeria, the host country, is preparing to embark on the adventure in the hope of winning the Championship. Thus, the national football team A’ will make its debut at the CHAN 2022 African Nations Championship by facing Libya today. National coach Madjid Bougherra insisted on the importance of starting this 7th edition of CHAN well, as was the case in 2011 in Sudan.

For their part, the EN Fennecs sent a message to local players to encourage them before the start of the competition. Indeed, in a video published by the Algerian Football Federation (FAF), players like Islam Slimani, Carl Medjani and Yacine Brahimi gave their support to Bougherra’s men, saying that Algeria was behind them.
