The retro wave is still strong and now Channing Tatum wants to make a new version of the romantic film Ghost from 1990, where a murdered Patrick Swayze tries to find his killer with the help of a medium.
To Vanity Fair says Tatum that “We have the rights to Ghost”. This could involve Tatum playing Swayze’s role in the film, but it won’t be a direct remake of Ghost, as Tatum also states that he wants to “something different”.
Tatum goes on to explain “I think it needs to change a little bit”, although he did not mention what parts of the film he would change if this project were to become a reality. The original Ghost was nominated for five Oscars and won two.
However, it will be a while before we see anything from the proposed Ghost remake, as Tatum is currently filing for the release of Magic Mike: The Last Dance, which will be his final appearance in that role.
Do you think Ghost needs a remake?
