The authorities filed charges this Friday for 17-year-old Amniel Heriat Cruz Estrada for the murder of a retired police officer that occurred at around 8:21 p.m. on Wednesday, in the midst of an alleged robbery that occurred on PR-785, kilometer 3, Hormigas sector of the Cañaboncito neighborhood, in Caguas.
The young man was charged with murder, attempted robbery, pointing and shooting, and carrying a firearm.
He was placed on $2 million bail that he did not post.
The deceased was identified as Osvaldo Rodriguez Delgado, 59 years oldwho was also a merchant.
According to the preliminary police report, an exchange of shots took place between the alleged assailant and Rodríguez Delgado, who suffered several gunshot wounds in different parts of the body.
The victim was transferred to the HIMA Hospital in Caguas, where they certified his death.
On the other hand, they are investigating whether a minor under the age of 17 who arrived at a hospital with a gunshot wound was involved in the incident.
The Homicide Division took over the investigation.
He has a criminal record.
