ChatGPT It is growing massively and that implies new security and privacy challenges for its developers. That’s why, Open AI created an option so that users can disable the history of their conversations.

The release of this feature comes weeks after a system bug that allowed other users to view some users’ history, putting the personal data that was entered at risk.

By using the artificial intelligence, the platform creates a new conversation and saves it on the left side of the interface. The idea of this option is that the user can return to that chat and that the system continues talking to him.

But everything does not stop there, because OpenAI confirmed that it uses this data to train ChatGPT and improve your answers. This represents a risk for those who give personal data to the chatbot, since that information may fall into the hands of company trainers or be exposed to a failure, such as the one that was recently presented.

For this reason, the new function of clearing the history is relevant. Although, according to the company, the elimination of the conversations will take 30 days, with the aim of reviewing them to determine possible cases of abuse.

To deactivate the history, the process is as follows:

1. Open ChatGPT.

2. Go to Profile, which is located in the lower left corner.

3. Go to Settings.

4. Click on the Data Controls option and press Show.

5. A button will appear to enable or disable the history of future conversations.

Along with this new feature, ChatGPT added a tool to export the data. In this way, the user will obtain a copy of the information that has been shared to know what data the company stores and uses to train artificial intelligence.

To request the export, the process is the same as deactivating the history, since in Data Controls the option to download the information will appear and then the user will receive a file by email with all their conversations and other “relevant information”.

These changes also come days after the AI was temporarily blocked in Italy for unauthorized data collection and used that data to train the system, raising concern in other countries.

– Payment information.

– Transaction history.

– Input and upload of files.

– Internet Protocol.

According to the company in charge of the artificial intelligence, Conversations with users are reviewed and data is collected with the idea of improving its operation and guaranteeing security.

“As part of our commitment to safe and responsible AI, we review conversations to improve our systems and ensure content meets our security policies and requirements,” the company states.
