China on Tuesday delivered a donation of 100,000 dollars to the Cuban government for the recovery of the areas affected by heavy rains and floods a few weeks ago.

The donation, managed through the Red Cross Society of China, was delivered in a ceremony attended by Ma Hui, Chinese ambassador to Cuba, and the Vice Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment on the island, Deborah Rivas, informed the official Latin Press.

The Cuban official thanked the gesture and highlighted the close relations between both regimes, while the ambassador of the Asian country recalled that his country has collaborated in the recovery from natural disasters and accidents in the Caribbean country.

Torrential rains in recent weeks left severe damage to homes and loss of human life in the center and east of the island.

In Camagüey, 455 affected houses were counted, with 46 total collapses, while more than three thousand people were housed, according to official data.

In Granma, More than 10,000 homes suffered some type of damagewith 65 total collapses, 214 partial collapses.

In April it was learned that the Chinese government donated to Cuba teams to face the drought and carry out sanitation work for the value of almost 30 million dollars.
