Yesterday (24), the Ministry of Health released vaccination with the bivalent Pfizer for the population over 18 years of age across the country. However, the Secretary of Health of the state of São Paulo reported that not enough doses have been sent to the entire population of the state over 18 years of age and, therefore, guided the municipal governments of São Paulo to make a staggered calendar, starting at older audience.

“What we have in stock today, plus the amount already distributed to the municipalities previously, is enough to start immunizing this public, however, it is necessary that, as soon as possible, we can receive a new shipment from the Ministry to supply the municipalities and continue with immunization for the entire population,” said Tatiana Lang D’Agostini, director of the Center for Epidemiological Surveillance (CVE) in the state of São Paulo.

According to the state secretariat, the estimate is that there are about 23 million people over 50 years old across the state.

“Our network is structured to vaccinate the entire population with the bivalent Pfizer dose. We have 470 UBSs (basic health units) prepared to perform immunization. As there are more than 9 million people over 18 years old in the capital, we are going to expand vaccination as new batches are received”, said Luiz Carlos Zamarco, municipal secretary of Health for São Paulo.

Until now, the bivalent vaccine was only available for the elderly over 60 years old, over 12 years old with comorbidities or immunosuppression, indigenous people, pregnant and puerperal women, health professionals, people with permanent physical disabilities, the population deprived of liberty, prison system employees , homeless people, residents of long-term care facilities and employees of these institutions.

You can take the bivalent dose who received at least two doses of monovalent vaccines (Coronavirus, Astrazeneca or Pfizer) in the primary or booster scheme. The most recent dose must have been taken four months ago. Those with a delayed dose can also look for health units.

More than 1.09 million people received the bivalent dose in the capital. Considering the entire state of São Paulo, so far 3.3 million doses of vaccine have been administered, providing vaccination coverage of 23.1% in the hitherto eligible population.

The population of São Paulo can find the health unit closest to their residence through the Busca Saúde platform.
