Along with street attacks by motorbikes, robberies carried out in the modality known in urban jargon as “escruche” continue to top the list of the most committed crimes in the Region. So much so that in the last 72 hours, at least four episodes of this type were discovered in different sectors.
In addition to the case of the Villa Elvira retiree who was robbed of a million-dollar figure, the list of this type of robbery includes the beatings in a private neighborhood in City Bell and the two episodes of insecurity that occurred in the founding town: the attempted robbery in a 64 building between 14 and 15 and the assault committed in a diet located a few blocks away, at 64, between diagonal 74 and 23.
Now the target of the crime turned out to be the home of two university students located in the heart of the City, where, in addition to the unfortunate episode, a particular situation took place that in the next few hours could be crucial for the outcome of the investigation.
In general, these acts have the particularity of being committed during the day, when the victims are fulfilling their responsibilities.
This was the scenario that was presented yesterday to two young people who joined the long list of victims who suffer from this type of crime in the Region.
The mechanics are manual: the thieves enter by force in the properties in the absence of their owners with the aim of seizing the belongings of others.
According to police sources, in broad daylight at least two criminals entered the apartment of a PH located at Diagonal 74 between 47 and 48 after forcing the front door.
Once they had access to the rooms, they began to rummage through the belongings of the victims.
Everything happened while the young women were engaged in different occupations: one of them was studying while the rest had gone out to do some shopping.
In the meticulous search that the thieves carried out in the house, the criminals managed to find a bicycle, a notebook and around $10,000.
Around 4:00 p.m., when one of the young women returned to her farm, she found disaster. The front door was wide open and everything was in a mess.
In the midst of adversity, the young woman was able to carry out a quick count of her possessions and that is how she detected the aforementioned shortages. But there was something that powerfully caught her attention. When she visually toured her apartment, she came across a white bag that she had never seen before.
When she got closer, she found that the wrapper wasn’t hers or her friend’s. At first, he decided to wait for the police to arrive to open the package and thus check if there could be any clues that could lead to the assailants.
The concrete thing is that, after a few minutes, the victim chose to discover what was inside. Great was the surprise that she got when she untied the knot of the cloth bag and, in addition to finding her friend’s notebook and clothes belonging to her, she confirmed that what did not stop ringing was a telephone .
His instinct did not fail him since indeed, it was a clue that irrefutably located its owner at the criminal scene.
Everything points to the fact that in the heat of the escape the subject forgot that package, thus leaving self-incriminating evidence that yesterday was being analyzed in great detail by computer specialists.
“We presume that two acted and we have at least one name. The subject committed a clumsiness leaving his phone at the scene. We are only waiting to define some variables to carry out the capture of him ”, an official source specified.
