CNBC: Biden Urges Tighter Gun Control After Violent Holiday Weekend

His comments come a year after a mass shooting at a Fourth of July parade in Highland Park, Illinois, that killed seven people and injured 50 others.

In January, Illinois banned the sale of semi-automatic weapons and high-capacity magazines.

“As we have seen in recent days, much more must be done in Illinois and across America to address the epidemic of gun violence that is tearing our communities apart,” Biden said.

There have been 346 mass shootings so far this year in the US, according to the Gun Violence Archive, which defines a mass shooting as an incident in which four or more people are shot to death, excluding the shooter.
