Who is the judge appointed to the case of Trump who has already punished his followers

WASHINGTON DC – A federal judge on Tuesday scheduled a hearing for Friday morning on prosecutors’ request for a protective order for alleged election meddling against former President Donald Trump.

Judge Tanya Chutkan set the hearing after Trump’s lawyers told her they wanted to move the session to early next week, even though Chutkan had asked both sides to offer her dates for this Friday or earlier.

The protection order requested by special counsel Jack Smith would prohibit Trump from publicly disclosing some evidence collected during the criminal investigation.

The former president, who will not attend the hearing, is charged with four felonies related to his alleged attempt to reverse his 2020 election loss to Joe Biden.

Trump has a decades-long history of trying to prolong and complicate legal proceedings through procedural tactics and appeals. His legal team has already shown a tendency to apply that strategy to his most recent case.

Trump said Sunday that he wants the case transferred out of the District of Columbia and Chutkan off the stand.

“There is NO WAY YOU CAN GET A FAIR TRIAL WITH YOUR ‘ASSIGNED’ JUDGE,” he wrote in a social media post that day.

Chutkan had denied a day earlier an attempt by Trump’s lawyers to delay the deadline to respond to the protection order request.

The other Florida criminal case brought by Smith accuses Trump of withholding hundreds of classified government records after he left the White House, taking steps to hide them from federal officials and attempting to destroy video evidence showing the relocation of the documents at his South Florida mansion and resort.

Trump has pleaded not guilty in both federal criminal cases.

Separately, Trump is criminally charged in New York state court in Manhattan for allegedly falsifying business records in connection with a secret payment to porn star Stormy Daniels in 2016.
