Boat accident in Miami stops maritime traffic and delays departure of several cruise ships

The fatal collision of two boats that occurred this Sunday morning has caused chaos in the port of Miami, which despite reopening since the afternoon continues to have delays, which is why several cruise ships have delayed their departures, affecting hundreds of passengers.

It has been hours of uncertainty for hundreds of people who have been waiting to get on their cruise. Screaming in frustration, children waited for hours after their cruise trip was delayed and their departure to sea was postponed for several hours.

Mirel Cancio, a passenger on the MSC Seascape cruise, says that she came “in the morning but we had to go back home because they told us that they were not going to let us in until at least 6 pm”.

The same was reported to Marbilia, who was told that “from 6 to 9:30 would be the maximum we would be there. This happened well I don’t know something… because we see the place to check very small. There must be something in case an event like this happens so that people are not outside for so long.”

Something that for Graciela Santander, another passenger on the MSC Seascape “is a lack of respect that they don’t tell us anything. We have been on our feet for 6 hours and we are senior citizens… They should have warned us and we should stay at the hotel. Being able to have lunch. We are without lunch. We are practically with a very short breakfast so it will be 9 at night we have not eaten anything”.

Meanwhile, at the cruise terminal in the port of Miami, suitcases can be seen everywhere, long lines and entire families are tired.

A whole chaos after the authorities were forced to stop maritime traffic due to a fatal collision between two boats that occurred at dawn in Miami Beach where one person died. The incident occurred just east of the Pilot House Station on Dodge Island before 3:40 a.m.

Although the ship that sank was finally removed around 2:30 p.m., the event affected arrival and departure times for three cruise lines including MSC Seascape, Norwegian Cruise Line and Carnival Celebration.

ACCIDENT BETWEEN FISHER ISLAND FERRY AND A BOAT

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is investigating the cause of what authorities described as an accidental collision between a vessel approximately 30 feet long and the Fish Island Ferry, a ferry, which takes residents to and from the island.

Authorities said ferry personnel were able to pull a man from the water who was transported in stable condition to Jackson Memorial Hospital, a spokesman for the City of Miami Fire and Rescue units said.

“When we arrived on scene, we found a patient that the Coast Guard had recovered from the water,” Lt. Pete Sanchez said. “He was transported to the Ryder Trauma Center in stable condition. On the way to the hospital, the patient began asking about his friend. Then, at that point, we were notified that there was actually a second occupant on the boat.”

According to a statement, the Miami dive team was immediately dispatched to conduct a search and rescue operation. Multiple agencies could be seen in the area, searching both by helicopter in the air and by boats and divers in the water.

“We found the other victim underwater after a five-minute search,” Lt. Sanchez said. “Unfortunately, that victim died at the scene and the FWC will now take over the investigation.”

At the moment, the identity of the person who died in the accident has not been revealed and we continue to await the authorities for an update on the health condition of the survivor.
