There was no fourth cup final victory in a row for Karislaget BK-46. Instead, the Riihimäki team Cocks takes home the jug. The men’s cup final was a nice and exciting event.

The final score in the final played in Kari’s sports hall was 32-28 (14-14) in Cock’s favour.

The match was very even and only a couple of times did the Cocks manage to pull away and get a three-goal lead. BK-46 came to the match tagged and played really well without goal king Nico Rönnberg, who was forced to retire at an early stage.

Cock’s slightly wider material was decisive. The Riihimäki team was able to change its team, while the Kari team was pretty much forced to use the same players.

– Our strength is our good cohesion, says Cocks team captain Teemu Tamminen.

He was very happy after the match and also praised the great atmosphere in the hall.

– This was in every way the best cup final ever.

Tamminen in the stands

Teemu Tamminen had to watch the last quarter of the game from the stands as he received a red card due to three sending offs.

– The judges thought I deserved three expulsions. It doesn’t matter, I watched the game well from the stands. I trusted that the boys will fix the victory, he says.

And Cocks definitely did, although in the closing minutes BK suffered from either blur or bad luck.

– We came close at the end but missed some chances that we should have set. I also missed a penalty at the end, says BK’s best forward Sebastian Säkkinen.

He was credited with a dozen goals in the match, five of which came from the penalty spot.

BK-46 played a good match. The upper end series in the FM league starts in a week and Säkkinen is positive about the future.

– We are definitely moving forward. This was our best game against the Cocks this season, says Säkkinen.

BK has lost all three games against the Riihimäki team during the season.

Cocks will win FM gold, the captain believes

Teemu Tamminen does not hesitate for a second when he is asked who will win FM gold this spring:

– Riihimäen Cocks.

What is the rationale?

– No justification is needed, he says.
