The Verdi trade union heralded the collective bargaining round in the public sector on Thursday, waved the flag in front of the Oberhausen town hall on Schwartzstrasse and handed over a petition to Mayor Daniel Schranz (CDU).

Next Tuesday, January 24th, the collective bargaining for the 2.5 million public employees nationwide will begin. Against the background of the sharp rise in food prices, Verdi is demanding. Energy and other everyday goods, a pay plus of 10.5 percent, but at least 500 euros monthly increase for employees.

Signatures collected in the run-up to the collective bargaining round

In the Ruhr-West district of the Verdi union, signatures of support have been collected from the workforce since October. Of the 6,000 employees in the public sector in Oberhausen, more than 1,500 people from selected areas and companies have already confirmed with their signature that they stand behind the Verdi demand.
