Thermo Wire’s push in the export of solar panels

During the recent forum of the National Association of Entrepreneurs of Colombia (ANDI)Armando Sepúlveda, manager of Thermo Wire, shared exciting news about the company’s advancement in the solar industry. He confirmed that Thermo Wire has already started exporting its solar panels to both North American and South American countries. The company prides itself on its annual capacity of 32 megawatts, equivalent to around 88,000 solar panels per year, spread over approximately 4,000 to 8,000 panels per month.

Thermo Wire’s history has not been without its challenges. During the previous government, the company was forced to close its operations due to bureaucratic obstacles that made it difficult to consolidate favorable regulations for solar industrialization. However, thanks to the current government’s energy transformation policy, Thermo Wire managed to reopen its doors a year ago and is in a process of constant growth.

Government commitment to energy transformation is a key factor in Thermo Wire’s renaissance and the expansion of solar power in Colombia. During the inauguration of the congress on July 20, President Gustavo Petro reaffirmed his willingness to support the adoption of clean energy throughout the country. The president highlighted the importance of allowing Colombian families, both those most in need and those with their own means, to become electric power generators.

President Petro explained that the objective is to enable 2 million homes, covering 6,000 hectares of solar panels throughout the country, mainly in the Caribbean region. This ambitious vision drives families to invest in solar technology, not only as a way to reduce their energy costs, but also as an active contribution to the environment.

Thermo Wire solar panels have a price range accessible to Colombian families, ranging between 160 and 400 thousand pesos. A family of four people could make an investment of up to 5 million pesos for the installation of solar panels in their home. According to the company’s calculations, this investment can generate a significant return by drastically reducing electricity bills. For example, a family that paid 400,000 pesos in electricity bills could see that cost reduced to only 25,000 pesos thanks to the generation of solar energy.
