While she and her father are going to file a complaint against the Remiremont hospital in the Vosges, the daughter of a patient who died in the hospital center in 2018 announced, on BFMTV, “to continue the fight” so that there is “justice”.

“We hope that light is shed.” Charlotte Zanin, daughter of a patient who died of cardiac arrest in 2018 at Remiremont hospital in the Vosges, confirmed on Wednesday that she and her father were going to file a complaint for “manslaughter” against the hospital center.

Four years earlier, on December 5, 2018, Charlotte Zanin’s mother was admitted to the emergency room for violent “stomach pains”, she says. After “at least 7 hours of waiting”, the hospital staff diagnosed him with “stage 3” pancreatitis and found him a place in the general medicine department.

Against all odds, the 51-year-old woman died of cardiac arrest three days after being admitted to Remiremont hospital. On the spot, no one can give a precise answer to the questions of the Zanin family, nor even the time or the cause of the death of the mother of the family.

“We met this doctor who collapsed saying, ‘I don’t know’. He started crying in front of my father”, she confided on our antenna.

“They destroy entire families”

Silvio Zanin’s lawyer, Maître Nancy Risacher, told BFMTV.com that the manslaughter complaint will be filed later this week. A decision taken after noticing “similarities” in the case of other patients who died in this hospital, in particular a lady, who also mysteriously died of pancreatitis.

“It was no longer possible, we want light and justice to be done,” said Charlotte Zanin.

The young woman even asked that “this wing of the hospital which lacks resources” be temporarily closed in order to “stop this massacre”. “They destroy entire families,” she added. For example, on the day of her mother’s death, a single nurse was caring for 24 patients while “the doctor was exhausted”, according to her.

Contacted in early December by BFMTV.com, the director of the hospital, Dominique Chauveau, recognized “communication errors” with the families of the victims. He declared that “nothing allows us to analyze any fault of the public hospital service”, with our colleagues from franceinfo.

Other complaints in perspective

This complaint will thus be added to the three previous files already in progresswhich we announced in mid-December.

“Alas, it’s not over”, slipped this Wednesday to BFMTV.com the lawyer who is studying the files of other families for similar facts and who could in turn decide to file a complaint.

A fifth complaint already targets the Remiremont hospital for a misdiagnosis. A scanner carried out at the hospital center would not have revealed the fracture of ten ribs of a patient “whose he is currently suffering the consequences, in particular at the level of the lungs”, declared his lawyer.
