This morning, the head of the Consumer Ombudsman, Ricardo Salazar, attended a morning interview in which he highlighted the attention that the institution provided within the framework of the 2022 Year-End Plan in order to guarantee compliance with suppliers.

According to Salazar, the Ombudsman’s Office was attentive to the complaints of the population, carrying out inspections in various sectors, in order to identify breaches of the Consumer Protection Law.

“The activity of the Ombudsman’s Office was very intense, from the attention of claims; there were more than 9,000 consumers who made use of the services of the institution, only in the Christmas season”, expressed the headline.

Likewise, the official explained that the care provided was related to financial services, purchases of telephone and internet packages, and purchases of household items, among others.

Similarly, 358 inspections were carried out in clothing, footwear and accessories stores, restaurants, supermarkets, furniture and appliance stores, technology, opticians, beauty parlors, hardware stores, toy stores and pharmacies, among others. Through the inspections carried out throughout the territory, the Consumer Advocacy teams identified 29 non-compliances, which is equivalent to 8.10%. These are mainly related to expired product, Salazar explained.

The surveillance and monitoring work of the institution is permanent, the teams are deployed throughout the country, in order to fulfill the mandate of President Bukele, to take care of the economy of Salvadoran families and ensure their well-being.
