Profamilia assures that so far in 2023 the entity has provided more than 500,000 contraceptive services. However, it is estimated that 70% of women between the ages of 15 and 19 and 52.7% of adolescent men do not use contraceptive methods.

According to United Nations (UN) agencies, in many developed countries, contraceptive options are widely available, and there is greater awareness and education about family planning. However, in some developing regions, access to contraception may be limited due to economic, cultural, and social barriers.

In this sense, in the world, the percentage of women of reproductive age with family planning needs satisfied with modern methods was 75.7% in 2019, but in Central and West Africa this figure did not reach 50%.
