blogEA spoke to the community to provide an update on the damage that occurred last week.
Corrupt saves for many players
If you haven’t been following the case, Madden NFL 23’s Franchise mode experienced numerous problems on Wednesday, December 28 following an outage on EA’s servers. The outage will last overnight, affecting many players.
Today we learned that save files have been corrupted for the majority of players who logged into Franchise Mode leagues during this time.
On Wednesday 12/28 around 2:45 PM EST, players trying to access the Franchise server received an error stating that leagues were not available. The issue persisted until 12:45 PM EST on Thursday, December 29. Unfortunately, if you logged into any Franchise Leagues during this time, your data was affected due to a data storage issue that resulted in Franchise file corruption.
EA apologizes
According to EA, only 40% of save files could potentially be recovered. Faced with the extent of the damage, the publisher apologized to the players.
First of all, we’re sorry this happened. We know how important your franchises are to you and we are actively working on a solution to restore some files via backup as soon as possible. However, not all affected leagues can be restored. The team currently anticipates that around 40% of the leagues can be restored. We will communicate next week an updated schedule regarding the potential restoration of backup files.
It also indicates that if you have not logged in during this period, you have nothing to fear for your backups. The players concerned are encouraged to start a new franchise.
