The Ministry of Health announced this Monday (24) the expansion of the vaccination campaign against covid-19 with a bivalent booster dose for the entire population over 18 years of age. About 97 million Brazilians could be vaccinated.

You can take the bivalent dose who received at least two doses of monovalent vaccines (Coronavirus, Astrazeneca or Pfizer) in the primary or booster scheme. The most recent dose must have been taken four months ago. Those with a delayed dose can also look for health units.

The ministry points out that vaccines have proven safety, are effective and avoid complications arising from Covid-19. The expansion, according to the folder, has “the objective of reinforcing protection against the disease and expanding vaccination coverage throughout the country”.

The immunization campaign with the bivalent vaccine was started in February, aimed at seniors aged 60 or over, people living in long-term institutions, immunocompromised people, indigenous people, quilombolas, river dwellers, pregnant and puerperal women, health professionals, people with permanent disability, prisoners and adolescents in socio-educational measures and penitentiary employees.

By the 20th of this month, more than 10 million people had already taken the bivalent booster, 8.1 million of whom were elderly, according to data released by the ministry.
