The Ministry of Health of the Nation reported this Monday that in the last week 72,558 new cases and another 47 deaths of coronavirus were confirmed in Argentina. In that framework, The authorities asked the population to attend the vaccinations to receive the corresponding dose and maintain personal hygiene measures.
These data triggered the alerts of several people from La Plata who shared massive gatherings for the New Year’s Eve festivities, where the virus tends to spread more easily. In this context, and facing the summer holidays, many residents wonder: Where can I get tested if symptoms compatible with the coronavirus appear?
As a first measure, it is worth remembering that those infected with COVID tend to have a fever of 37.5°C, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, muscle pain, headache, diarrhoea, vomiting, or sudden loss of taste or smell.
According to the provisions of the Federal Health Council (COFESA), only some people can access the test for free in public health centers across the country. The rest of the suspected patients can resort to the self-test that is sold in pharmacies.
In this sense, from the body that brings together all the country’s ministries of health that can be swabbed for free the following groups: people over 50 years of age or those with risk conditions; health personnel or long-stay institutions (such as nursing homes); and those that require hospitalization due to acute respiratory disease, is also applied in all provinces.
In cases where a person under 50 years of age reports symptoms and does not belong to prioritized groups, it is recommended to isolate themselves for 5 days and then do 5 days of care (maintain the use of a mask and social distance), and if in doubt consult a doctor header.
