Leipzig – The Sachsen-Tatort recently had great ratings. But now another commissioner is leaving the team at her own request! A case that raises questions.

actress Karin Hanczewski (42) surprisingly announced her departure from the set on Wednesday.

Since the first take in 2015, she determined for the crime scene from Dresden. The episode “Heart of Darkness” is currently being filmed in the state capital and is scheduled to run on ARD in 2025.

It will be her last case as Chief Inspector Karin Gorniak. She explains: “For nine years and a total of 18 episodes, as Karin Gorniak, I went through all the highs and lows of the television police investigation. I really enjoyed being part of the Dresden crime scene team, I grew up with challenges and experienced so much sympathy. None of this can be taken for granted and I am grateful for that. It’s not an easy decision for me to leave, but it’s time for me to move on and tell new characters.”

The actress explicitly thanks her crime scene colleagues Martin Brambach (55, Peter Schnabel), Cornelia Gröschel (35, Leonie Winkler) and Alwara Höfels (41). Höfels also left the Dresden crime scene in 2019 at his own request, and Cornelia Gröschel, who was born in Dresden, joined her.

At the time, Höfels justified her departure as follows: “Different views on the work process and a lack of artistic consensus have led, after many discussions in this regard, to leaving this renowned format, as otherwise I see my responsibility as an artist at risk.”

For the time being, there does not seem to be a successor in the investigative team. Because Johanna Kraus, Editor-in-Chief for TV Film at MDR, explains: “Farewells also open up new development opportunities for everyone involved, so we wish Karin great success for her future projects and are also looking forward to the future with the Dresden Tatort team. In the next film, Martin Brambach and Cornelia Gröschel investigate.”

Hanczewski gave the Dresden crime scene “a face”. With 9.3 million viewers, the investigator trio is “currently one of the most successful investigators on German television.”
