A Cuban mother and daughter were shot to death this Wednesday at the entrance to his apartment, in a condominium located in the Flagami neighborhood of Miami.
The victims were identified as Irisbel Cartalla, 50, and her daughter Isbelsy Olivera Cartalla, 22, from Camagüeyaccording to their social networks.
Both were found dead by the police in front of the apartment door, on the ninth floor, after a witness to the crime called 911.
The incident occurred around 9:30 am at the Yolanda Villas building, located at 801 Northwest and 47th Avenue, approximately one mile south of Miami International Airport.
“There were two women who were found unconscious right in front of the door of their apartment complex. Further investigation revealed that the suspect arrived at the scene and somehow managed to ambush both mother and daughter,” he told CBC News Miami Police Officer Kiara Delva.
“Further investigation revealed that the suspect fled in an unknown vehicle and arrived at the West Miami Police Department, where confessed and claimed that he had just shot and killed two people“, accurate.
Although the perpetrator surrendered, his name has not been revealed to the media. Detectives are still investigating the cause of the shooting and how he gained access to the building.
The condominium manager revealed to Local 10 News what the mother worked in the building as a janitor and she was “full of life, very happy, outgoing,” and that both she and her daughter were “beautiful people” who did not deserve to have that end.
Another person close to the victims reported that the daughter made a living as a manicurist in the apartment itself.
Cartalla would have celebrated her 51st birthday on Saturday and the girl would have turned 23 on Thursday, December 21.
