A Cuban woman who owns a grocery store in Miami discovered a man robbing the business on security video and alerted the police, who went to the scene and arrested the thief in the act.

Rosailys Casas, a native of Bejucal, Mayabeque, is the owner of the Rossy supermarketlocated at 3445 NW 27th Ave, in Allapattah, a neighborhood located in the metropolitan area of ​​the city.

As he told Local 10On Friday around 1:30 a.m., he woke up with a “bad feeling” and decided to check his cameras. He then saw the man with his face covered by his shirt walking around the establishment looking for money and putting items in his backpack.

“He came straight to the cash register, took the money that was here and had a backpack and he carried it. Everything he could take, he took,” he told Telemundo.

Police arrived at the store while the offender was still inside; he was arrested without resistance.

He was identified as Ariel Duvergel, 54 years oldand homeless with permanent residence in Norcross, a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia.

Authorities revealed that He forced his way into the premises through a hole he made in the wall of a car dealership which is adjacent to Rosailys’s premises.

The Cuban businesswoman believes that Duvergel is the man who robbed her business about three months ago, when he took $10,000 in cash, as well as tobacco and medicines.

“I feel that God was good, God helped me. Thank God this time it was not worse,” she told Local 10.

“These businesses are small, they are for living but it is sad, what is happening is hard,” he told Telemundo.

The suspect is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center and charged with multiple counts of robbery, criminal mischief and grand theft.

He appeared in Miami-Dade County Criminal Court and was held on $13,000 bail.
