Cuban passport, among the least privileged, according to Visa Guide

HAVANA.- The updated ranking of the Visa Guide Passport Index places the cuban passport in position 135 as of January 2024. This classification places the travel document among the least favored, allowing Cuban citizens to enter only 28 countries and territories without a visa.

According to review Cuban Diary, the information provided by Visa Guide World specifies that Cubans can enjoy visa-free travel to destinations such as Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belarus, Botswana, Cook Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Micronesia, Moldova, Mongolia, Montenegro, Namibia, Nicaragua, Niue, Qatar, Russia, Singapore, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Tajikistan, Gambia, Trinidad and Tobago, Uzbekistan and Vanuatu. It is important to note that these conditions may change according to the specific regulations of each territory.

The platform emphasizes that, to travel without visaa valid passport is required with a validity of at least six months after the date of departure from the Island, in addition to the obligation to acquire travel medical insurance in accordance with the requirements of the destination country.

Additionally, 15 countries allow the entry of Cubans through an electronic visa (eVisa), among which are Angola, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Gabon, Georgia, India, Iran, Kenya, Lesotho, Montserrat, Sao Tome and Principe , South Sudan and Vietnam.

The process to obtain an eVisa is similar to that established for a traditional visa, but with the convenience of being able to complete the process online, including the corresponding payment. Once the application is approved, the applicant receives an email with confirmation of the status of their visa, as well as a document that they must print and carry with them when crossing the border. Although the visa is registered online, some officers may request a physical copy of the permit.

As for the Spanish passport, which many Cubans can obtain through the Democratic Memory Law (Ley de Nietos), it occupies first place in the Visa Guide Passport Index ranking, allowing unrestricted entry to 106 countries.
