You are currently viewing Cyberpunk 2077 – The free giant update 2.0 changes everything – and comes surprisingly early

You don’t have to wait for Phantom Liberty to play the free update 2.0.

For a long time it was not entirely clear when the comprehensive update 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077 would appear. It was only clear that it had to go live by September 26th at the latest – that’s when the much-anticipated Phantom Liberty add-on comes out. As the developers now reveal in the Night City Wire live stream, 2.0 will be released five days beforehand.

More precisely, it should on September 21st be ready. So there’s enough time to let off some steam in the main game, complete the game’s prologue, familiarize yourself with the new mechanics and then start playing Phantom Liberty five days later.

What else was shown in the live stream?

The actor Idris Elba (known, among other things, as Heimdall in the Thor films) was a guest and spoke about his role as Solomon Reed. There’s now also a really nice cinematic trailer, who reveals the spy’s background. You can watch it right here:

In addition, the new features in Phantom Liberty and Update 2.0 were explained in more detail. The focus was on car chases and fights, the Relic skill tree and the new radio stations – one of which contains a number of tracks created by the community. Other songs come from Idris Elba himself.

You can find out which content can be found in the free update 2.0 and which is in the DLC Phantom Liberty in our separate article.

Are you excited to cruise through the new Dog Town neighborhood, race the police and see Idris Elba as a cyber spy? Will you play Update 2.0 before you really get started with Phantom Liberty or will you save yourself the add-on? What change are you most excited about? Feel free to write it to us in the comments!
