Marriage, first solo success: how Dadju’s career took off

2017 is a pivotal year for the Franco-Congolese singer, both artistically and personally. Indeed, on the heart side, there is something new in Dadju’s life: on January 7, 2017, the latter said “yes” to Juana, whom he met a year earlier… on a train! A great way to start the year but for the person concerned, this marriage is also synonymous with stress. The singer must assume new responsibilities and his financial situation still lacks stability: “It’s going too fast, I can’t manager.” Life as a couple, completely new to him, questions him: “What do you do when you’re married? For his part, Dadju admits that his reaction lacked a little warmth: “I looked at her and said ‘oh yeah, that’s good eh’. I’m disappointed myself, how can you have a reaction like that?” It must be said that this announcement caused the singer an immense upheaval, as he himself recounts: “I tell him, ‘I’ll be back’, I take my car and I drive. Not a word, not a sound. On the ring road, anxiety attack. I’ve never told anyone, ever.” Because it is then that the artist realizes the burden that a child represents: “I was scared, for the first time in my life. I told myself that if I have a daughter, she can’t manage without me. I was starting to become irreplaceable and that was a lot of pressure.” His greatest terror? “If I can’t manage, if there is no money, she will experience what I experienced,” admits the one who knew the street. But fortunately, the story has a happier ending: Dadju works hard at the studio to release, a few months later, Queen, his first solo success.
