Police officers discovered a nine- and eleven-year-old boy in the track bed of Gelsenkirchen Central Station. The route was therefore closed

Two children were in mortal danger on Friday morning in Gelsenkirchen main station when they climbed down a platform onto the track bed at 5.30 a.m. Attentive federal police officers observed the two boys (9, 11) on the surveillance cameras and immediately blocked the route.

The police officers then immediately made their way to the tracks, where they brought the two brothers to safety. When asked, the children explained that they wanted to see “what’s lying around there”.

The 9- and 11-year-old boys were taken into custody and taken to the police station until the children’s grandmother appeared at the police station a little later. In the meantime, the emergency services urgently explained to the children the mortal danger they had put themselves in.

In this context, the Federal Police once again points out that “unfortunately most people are not aware of how careless and life-threatening it is to stay in the area of the tracks. Nowadays, modern trains can usually only be heard when it might already be too late. Deadly dangers emanate not only from train traffic itself, but also from operating systems, such as live parts, masts and other infrastructure.
