The Internet sports broadcaster DAZN has increased the subscription costs for some of its new customers with a new price structure. If you want to see the full range of the streaming service, you now pay 39.99 when concluding a contract with a monthly cancellation option. The package is called DAZN Unlimited and costs ten euros more than the previous most expensive offer. Nothing will change for existing customers, DAZN confirmed on Wednesday.

DAZN now offers three different packages for new customers. The cheapest offer with the Friday and Sunday games in the Bundesliga, which are important for fans, as well as almost all games in the Champions League, costs an annual contract 24.99 euros per month. Without these transmissions there is a Starter package for 9.99 euros.

After price increases: class action lawsuit against DAZN planned

The streaming service, which has been active in Germany since 2016, has increased its prices several times, most recently in the summer of 2022 for existing customers. The costs for a monthly subscription with a monthly notice period had practically doubled and had risen from 14.99 to 29.99 euros.

The Federal Association of Consumer Centers (vzbv) is currently trying to take action against the sharp rise in subscription costs with a class action lawsuit. According to the association, the price increase clause in the contracts of existing customers is “intransparent” and “therefore ineffective”. The vzbv is looking for DAZN customers who are affected by the price increase during an ongoing contract. The lawsuit aims to get those affected their money back. The streaming service DAZN had confirmed that it had already received a letter from vzbv in May last year, and explained: “DAZN is still convinced that its terms and conditions are in line with applicable law.”
