This Tuesday, the Realization Consortium, the structure responsible for managing the liabilities of Crédit Lyonnais (but also that of the Comptoir des Entrepreneurs and UIC-Sofal), has just announced in the context of its annual results that it is preparing to donate 100 million euros in dividends to the State. A sum of which a good part comes from the ongoing recovery of the debts of Bernard Tapie, who died in October 2021, with regard to the CDR following the cancellation for fraud in 2015 of the arbitration which awarded him 404 million euros for settle its dispute with Crédit Lyonnais. François Lemasson, the president of the consortium, gives an update on the file while the main assets of the former businessman have been sold.

To date, how much are the debts of the Tapie spouses with regard to the CDR?

At the end of March, these debts amounted to nearly 660 million euros (404 million euros of the canceled arbitration plus interest, editor’s note). Of this sum, we still hope to recover around 320 million euros in the end. This corresponds to the possible returns that we expect on the sales of the various assets of Bernard Tapie’s group. Even if we forget the interest, we will still be far from the 404 million. Unfortunately, for years, Bernard Tapie and his entourage led a veritable judicial guerrilla war, multiplying appeals and dilatory procedures to delay the collection of his debts.

For the moment, however, the sums recovered remain much lower
