Democrats applaud Biden's withdrawal, Harris calls it a patriotic act

WASHINGTON — US Vice President Kamala Harris Harris, He said on Sunday that he hopes to “win the nomination” Democratic Party to the presidential elections in November, to “defeat Donald Trump”, after joe Biden announced his withdrawal from the race.

Harris praised the “selfless and patriotic act” of the 81-year-old Democratic president, who endorsed her as a candidate. “I will do everything in my power to unite the Democratic Party – and unite our nation – to defeat Donald Trump,” she wrote in a statement.

The 59-year-old former senator from California may have to compete with other figures in the Democratic Party to be elected.

Obama’s “praise”

Former President Barack Obama on Sunday praised Joe Biden’s decision not to seek a second term, but warned that the decision puts Democrats in “uncharted territory.”

Biden had “every right” to run for re-election, Obama said in a statement, praising the 81-year-old president’s record and calling him a “patriot.” “We will navigate uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that our party’s leaders will be able to create a process that will produce an outstanding nominee,” he added, despite Biden’s endorsement of Harris to replace him.

At the party convention in August, this presidential campaign was described as a culture shock.

In fact, this former prosecutor would be facing the first president in US history to be convicted. He is also involved in other legal cases.

Harris also embodied the defense of abortion rights in the Democratic Biden administration, an explosive issue that has already penalized the Republican Party at the polls.

“The Clintons also applaud”

Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, on Sunday applauded Biden’s decision to drop out of the race for re-election and declared their full support for the president’s proposal to nominate Kamala Harris as his choice to defeat former President Trump in the November White House election.

“President Biden capped an extraordinary career with a presidency that has lifted the country out of an unprecedented pandemic, created millions of jobs and rebuilt a shattered economy,” the Clintons said in a joint statement.

“Her North Star has always pointed us to what is best for the country,” they say before applauding Harris’s choice. “We are honored to join the president in his recommendation and will do what we can to support her.”

The Clintons, finally, rant and add to the rhetoric against Trump, pointing out that he represents a “threat” to a second term, asserting that Trump has promised to be a dictator since day 1 of his term.

“Destruction and chaos”

Kamala Harris is expected to outperform Joe Biden against Donald Trump in Michigan and Pennsylvania, two states that could swing the election, according to a recent poll.

But the vice president has the disadvantage of already being in office, meaning Trump will be able to attack her on the same record as Biden, particularly on illegal immigration, a task Biden assigned her and which has not yielded satisfactory results.

The Democratic Party has other options, such as governors Josh Shapiro, Gretchen Whitmer and Gavin Newsom.

Newson, a California native, has already faced off against several Republican figures, so he would not be intimidated by Trump’s attacks.

Gretchen Whitmer is the spearhead of the Democratic Party in Michigan, a key state.

The governor of another swing state, Pennsylvania, Josh Shapiro, is also a serious candidate.

Whoever wins the Democratic nomination will not be immune from the stormy billionaire’s attacks.

“The destruction and chaos caused by the Biden administration is not just the work of Crooked Joe, it is the work of the entire Democratic Party,” Donald Trump’s campaign team recently said. “No one did worse than Kamala Harris, who lied repeatedly,” it charged.
