Cleaning in Krokom’s municipality costs one million kroner per year. The additional cost of sticking to environmental diesel, HVO, will be SEK 180,000 per year.

– This means an increase in the fee of approximately SEK 24, says Oscar Aspman, head of cleaning. It’s worth it considering that we have to work to reduce co2 emissions.

He is supported by Petter Edlund, who drives one of the garbage trucks in Krokom.

– And there is nothing noticeable in terms of the car’s performance, he says.

Acceptable increase

Alina Reinkloiu and Tommy Lindgren work with maintenance around the church on Rödön. They agree that the cost of SEK 24 per year is money well spent.

– The environment is worth it, they say.

In Krokom, the garbage trucks run on diesel. Other cars are hybrid and electric cars.

Survey to the municipalities

According to a survey sent out by SVT, only the municipality of Östersund made a formal decision to refuel with environmental diesel in the first place.

Krokom has an ongoing dialogue and continues to refuel HVO. Åre has not made a decision about refueling HVO.

Härjedalen has not made a decision, but states that they are refueling with the diesel provided by local supermarkets.

Berg has not made a decision. Nor has Strömsund made any decision, but adds that a few cars refuel HVO.

Bräcke and Ragunda have not responded.
