Scioli alternates his days between Brazil and Argentina. According to his collaborators, as he has been doing since he was appointed by President Alberto Fernández at his destination in Brasilia -beyond the ephemeral stint at the Ministry of Productive Development when Matías Kulfas was displaced- his work is characterized by intensity while waiting for greater definitions within the political space that contains it.
From his current role there are two main issues. One, ensure that bilateral trade does not suffer. In this sense, he tries to move forward with the promise that the Lula da Silva government made to Alberto Fernández during his recent visit: that the pre-financing of Brazilian exports progress. The second item is related to obtaining financing so that the Néstor Kirchner gas pipeline can have a second stage in which it reaches the Uruguayan border. One obstacle is obtaining a loan from the Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES) that is managed by someone other than Lula.
In these conversations about economic aspects, for a “mutual need”, Scioli maintains an almost daily contact with the Minister of Economy, Sergio Massa. As much as the relationship between the two was distant due to old political grudges, now they maintain that it is a little more harmonious.
With President Fernández, Scioli mainly talks about management. Every time he is asked, the president mentions him as one of the possible candidates to fight for Rivadavia’s seat in this year’s elections. Scioli has already stated that he does not want to be elected “in a meeting between four walls.” He bets on STEP as “computers”, a concept that repeats over and over again.

Scioli’s work this week culminated in two relevant meetings in Brasilia. First with Ford’s Global Head of Government Affairs, Christopher Smith. They talked about investments and advances in electromobility in Argentina.
