From Scotland to Lake Garda
One of the absolute most incredible and pleasant mysteries in history certainly concerns Scottish Loch of Lock Ness. The famous photograph that we have all seen of the primeval animal being, which allegedly inhabits the beautiful British lake. Maybe you too have been on a tour in those parts, you have visited the local museum, with the famous photographs that would portray the mythological creature that made the village of the Highlands famous. And beware, that, like Nessie lives in beautiful Scotland, Bennie would instead live in our Lake Garda. The nickname obviously refers to the Latin name of Lake Garda, which the Romans called Benaco.
The first sightings would be quite recent
Unlike the Scottish myth, Benni, would have shown itself to visitors at the beginning of this century. However, there would be many photographers, who would testify, with the same material, the presence of a strange being that would emerge from the waves of Lake Garda. Local traditions obviously speak of sightings that are lost over the centuries, but without concrete evidence. Already in the Middle Ages and in the Renaissance, from the island of San Felice, home to a monastery, presences would have been sighted inside the lake. Obviously all this belongs to myth and legend, rather than reality. On the other hand, some very special destinations for next Valentine’s Day are not myths!

Since the early 2000s, the creature would instead have been spotted not only by photographers, but also by some divers. Taking a tour on the Veronese side of Lake Garda, you might even hear of some tourists who would have spotted the monster more or less at the level of the village of Garda. Someone could also tell of some sightings in the southern area, between the elegant Bardolino and the historic Sirmione. For some years, however, no one has heard from Bennie, who in any case would never have hurt anyone and who probably would have returned to the depths of Lake Garda.
