I want to say it with absolute clarity: the president is not going to resign. That fact is not going to happen. The Constitution requires that this succession that has taken place be consolidated. And because leaving the presidency of the Republic would be opening a very dangerous floodgate for anarchy and misgovernment ”, said the premier at a press conference.

The Prime Minister reiterated that Dina Boluarte is firm in leading the country” and added that “It’s not steering on autopilot”.

I want to address the Peruvians. Trust democracy, trust the rule of law. Trust in human rights. Trust your institutions. Have confidence in your Police, in your Armed Forces. We know clearly what things we have to do and what we cannot doOtárola added.

In this way, the president of the Council of Ministers responded to the demand of several governors, who demand the resignation of the head of state for the death of 48 Peruvians in the social protests that take place in various regions of the country. In this context, Alberto Otárola called on Peruvians in the National Police and the Armed Forces, as well as in democracy and the rule of law.

ADVANCE OF ELECTIONS

Alberto Otárola also argued that the issue of early elections is in the hands of Congress and that the ratification of the approval of the device would largely solve the problem that the country is going through.

The government’s decision from day one was the advancement of elections law. That is the constitutional way out of the crisis, because the way out always has to be institutional and not extra-institutional.”, he concluded.

The only thing that has happened here, in all cases, has been that thousands of people have wanted to take over the airports. In other words, the Police have not repressed the people in the streets, (only) they have defended the airports and in this context these unfortunate deaths have occurred”, he concluded.
