This film retraces the journey of a young and talented dancer, who was the victim of an attack. An event that gave another meaning to her dreams of a ballerina career. But Houria, embodied by the talented Lyna Khoudri, decided to accept her new body and take control of her life.

Vues d’Afrique International Film Festival: two prizes and special mention for the film “Houria”

The 39th edition of the Vues d’Afrique international film festival took place from April 20 to 30, 2023, in Montreal. This event which allows African producers and directors to reveal themselves to the public. And to gain visibility, selected, on April 30, its winners for this new edition.

During this international festival, Houria made a special entrance, winning several titles and prizes. Indeed, in a press release published on their official website, the organizers of this event announced that Mounia Medour’s film won the Music Beer Prize for best film music. In addition, in the international selection of fiction, a special mention was awarded to “Horia”.

For her part, Algerian actress Lyna Khoudri won the prize for best actress. In particular, for her role in this film by Mounia Meddour. As a reminder, Lyna Khoudri embodies the character of Houria, and brilliantly carries the destiny of this talented young ballerina, who was violently attacked. And this, because of its reported gains during an illegal bet. Walled in a deep silence, Houria decides to make dance her means of expression and to rebuild her life.
