There will only be one season of the Disney+ series loosely based on the two Nicolas Cage films and along with Willow and The Mighty Ducks, this is now the third TV series based on a major brand to be axed. The news came from Deadline who also reports that the closure is largely due to the internal cutbacks and changes taking place internally at Disney. The ten episodes produced and available to stream on Disney+ are thus all fans will get. The decision in itself is not necessarily surprising and the series has hardly been received with open arms, especially since Cage himself does not participate in any way. Whether this affects plans for the long-planned third National Treasure film is unclear.
