Now it’s also the Greens and no longer just the Blacks: The refugee policy, the current one, is increasingly being called into question. There’s more to come.

What theater was there when opposition leader Friedrich Merz from the CDU criticized the course with a view to overloading the municipalities. And now there is a group of Greens who not only describe the migration policy as wrong, but want drastic changes. Anything misguided?

Not even close. The fact that the mayor of Tübingen and warlord Boris Palmer belongs to this group does not speak against them. First, there are several dozen signatories. Second, Palmer Praktiker and Tübingen are not behind when it comes to refugees.

Thirdly, there are names that draw attention: the Bavarian district administrator Jens Marco Scherf, but especially ex-development state secretary Uschi Eid and Rebecca Harms, former parliamentary group leader in the EU Parliament, both highly respected. pragmatists and practitioners.

The “Vert Realos” hit the spot. It’s time for honesty. The municipalities can no longer. And are on the tree.

The refugee summit showed it: The municipalities feel left alone with everything, including the costs. That’s not entirely true, but “hypocrisy” doesn’t come up every day.

Because of the high influx of refugees to Germany – 1.1 million Ukrainians alone are in the country – districts and municipalities are demanding support from the federal government. The situation is, to put it mildly, tense.

Because the problem is recognized, but remedy is difficult. For example, free living space is identified, but the situation in Germany is different. There needs to be an overview. Land for the construction of containers must first be found.

Stephan Andreas Casdorff is the publisher of the Tagesspiegel. He warns that the tension in the communities will unload.

It is true that without help and drastic changes, the integration of the local people will be made more difficult. Means: Protection of the external borders and consistent repatriation of rejected asylum seekers. And that’s what the SPD says!

Action should be taken accordingly. Also when it comes to money: the federal government gives the municipalities 2.75 billion euros. Will there be more? Should only be discussed around Easter.

If that is to remain the answer until then, there is more to come. Of disappointment and anger. That doesn’t help the refugees.
