On Friday, April 7, agents from the Vector Control Directorate carried out fumigation operations with thermofog in the España, Urquiza and Nacional a la Bandera parks and in the Rucci neighborhood; as part of the control actions against aedes aegypti, the mosquito that transmits dengue, chikungunya and zika, among other diseases. And on Saturday morning, work continued in República de La Sexta and Puerto Norte and in the Scalabrini Ortiz, Colectividades, Sur and Héroes de Malvinas parks.

Carlos Tasinato, director of Vector Control, remarked that “it is necessary to increase these actions and prevent the presence of aedes due to environmental conditions and the high spread” and pointed to self-care, through the following recommendations: “Have mosquito nets in the house, keep covered containers that are used to collect water, weed, remove water from dishes and flower pots, air conditioning or rain drain collectors inside and outside the house and replace the water in vases and animal drinkers every day, and mainly use repellent”.

Throughout this week, the municipality carried out fumigation operations in squares, parks and green spaces in the city, including Pringles, Libertad, Sarmiento, López, 25 de Mayo and Alberdi squares and De las Colectividades, Independencia, Alem , Yrigoyen, Sunchales, de la Cabecera, Scalabrini Ortiz, Sur and Hérores de Malvinas; fumigation was also reinforced in sanitary blockade operations.

The fumigation operations are carried out within the framework of the prevention and awareness strategies against dengue that the municipality promotes based on a joint effort between different areas (Public Health, Vector Control, Urban Control, Civil Defense and Modernization, among others). ), and which is not only based on the intensification of thermal fogging and spraying with motorbikes in green spaces (with insecticide with a low environmental impact and no residue), but also on the promotion of family self-care campaigns with a strong focus on littering, use of repellent, cleaning patios and other spaces in homes where water can accumulate, as well as cutting grass and large plants, potential mosquito shelters.

This range of actions is added to the urban maintenance work that the Municipality carries out throughout the city: cutting weeds, weeding, control and eradication of vacant lots, trenching and urban hygiene tasks.
