MIAMI.- ArtesMiami and the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora will screen for the first time in Miami a documentary on the demonstrations of July 11, 2021 in Cuba: They Scream Freedom.
On that date, also known as 11J, Thousands of Cubans risked their lives by taking to the streets of cities and towns across Cuba, shouting in unison: Freedom! These men and women showed the world the consequences of the false promises of the so-called revolution that, in 2021, had already been in power for 62 years.
Although the Cuban government blocked social media and internet access, a young Cuban-American anonymously found a way to intimately share his experience, offering a rare insight into life and the human rights violations carried out and continue to be carried out by the dictatorship.
In honor of that day, July 11, Taiwanese-American filmmaker Melinda Raebyne will present her most recent documentary in Miami: They Scream Freedom.
In this sense, the film can be seen on July 26 and 27 at 7:00 pm at the American Museum of the Cuban Diaspora, located at 1200 Coral Way, Miami, FL 33145. In addition to the screenings, Melinda Raebyne and music producer Jorge Gómez will open a debate with the public to talk about the film.

Documentary Awards
Awarded at the Social World Film Festival (Italy) 2023, for Best Documentary Direction; at the Tacoma Film Festival 2023, for Best Pacific NW Documentary; and deserving of the Award-Winning Film, at the Free Speech Film Festival in Pennsylvania; They Scream Libertad It also screened to packed houses at the Seattle Latino Film Festival and the Social Justice Film Festival.
He also recently appeared at the Ethos Film Awards and was selected as a semi-finalist at the Equality International Film Festival, both in California. Now, They Scream Libertad arrives in Miami.
