Don Omar gives first interview after cancer surgery

MIAMI.- Don Omar has passed a great test such as the diagnosis of a cancer a month ago. And in light of his recovery and the operation he had to undergo to eliminate the disease, the interpreter The sun came out offered his first interview due to the health problem he experienced.

It was on the podcast Tweety’s show where the Puerto Rican decided to talk about this experience.

“I think I began to relive emotions, I felt fear, I felt peace at some point, I think the fear was more due to the little information I had about what was happening to me. I felt fear, not fear of perhaps dying, but the fear of staying alive and still being sick,” said Don Omar, bringing up the empathy that the diagnosis produced in his life.

“And I think that fear led me to put myself in other people’s shoes, it led me to put myself in the shoes of people who unfortunately are going to be diagnosed with cancer and who unfortunately are not going to have the blessing that I had of being able to go through this situation and have more time to enjoy my life. Those are the shoes with the most emotions, those shoes that I wanted to put myself in there, I wanted to step into the shoes of people who, like me, were diagnosed, but who perhaps did not have the resources or perhaps their condition had not been diagnosed as early as mine was diagnosed,” the artist added.

In the process, Don Omar also said that he clung to faith, letting God do his will: whether he stayed alive or not.

“I went through everything, brother, I went through everything: from fear, at some point I went from that stage of fear to the stage of peace when I literally told God: ‘you know what, I think I have lived everything I want, I think I have received everything I did not deserve. ‘ I reached a point where I raised my hands and said: ‘whatever you say (God), whatever you say will bring me peace,'” he recalled.

Don Omar: “I didn’t say anything to anyone”

For the winner of awards such as Latin Grammy, Latin Billboard, Lo Nuestro and more, this experience left him with the great lesson of living in the now without thinking about the future.

“I think the process was, in short, very long because I didn’t tell anyone anything, I never shared this with anyone, I wanted to stay quiet the whole time, and I think that was one of the reasons why the situation got worse. I didn’t want to talk to anyone, I was very scared, I was in the middle of the tour, the tour was a complete success; at some point I felt that I didn’t want to damage the atmosphere that there was and I thought that maybe I could be treated with something simpler without knowing what the verdict was,” revealed the 46-year-old artist.

“Today I see life completely differently. I see life as something that is very fleeting, something that is very sensitive, something that is very fragile, no matter how much time we may enjoy or leave the house. This doesn’t happen to me anymore: I no longer leave the house knowing that I will return; now I leave the house knowing that I may not return. That sense of fleetingness, of being able to lose life and that life is a fleeting moment, has changed for me because today I am one of those people who believes that what happens during the day has a purpose,” she reflected.

“I think the biggest change after all that I learned, and after the process that I just finished, is that, to appreciate, to appreciate the moments in the now; to appreciate the moments today, to appreciate the moment in which I can change another person’s life, to appreciate the moment in which I can be an agent of change and if that was the reason for what happened, I am in total peace and total tranquility because the purpose was fulfilled. I believe that today I see life with more tranquility and more carefully,” said Don Omar.

The singer has now resumed his Back To Reggaeton tour, with confirmed dates in Boston, Texas and El Paso.
