Julien Duranville (16) has been under black and yellow observation for some time, and last year Borussia Dortmund even made a first attempt to replace him. At that time, RSC Anderlecht still refused, now the two clubs have been able to come to an agreement.
As officially confirmed by BVB, Duranville signs a long-term contract in Kohlenpott. The lightning-fast winger was under contract in Anderlecht until 2024. The fee, including bonuses, is estimated at at least 12.5 million euros.
“We are very pleased that Julien and his family have placed great trust in us and that he is wearing our colors from now on. Julien is a fast, technically strong and creative winger in whom we see great potential.”says sports director Sebastian Kehl.
“Introduce the Bundesliga step by step”
Last year, the youngster made his debut with the RSC professionals shortly after his 16th birthday and is said to have even made it into the provisional 50-man squad of the Belgian national team for the World Cup in Qatar. In Dortmund, the teenager, who is still eligible to play for the youth teams, should slowly be introduced to the professionals.
Kehl explains: “We would like to work together in the coming years to leverage this potential and drive its development forward – as we have already demonstrated several times in the past with young talents. Our main focus is now on integrating Julien into our professional squad and the new environment as quickly as possible and gradually bringing him up to the level of the Bundesliga.”
