Why is DeSantis accused of violating the Campaign Finance Law?

MIAMI.- More than 100 new laws will go into effect in Florida this Monday, July 1. All were recently approved by the state legislature and signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in recent months.

Some of these laws include:

House Bill 931:

Allows Florida school districts and charter schools to authorize volunteer chaplains to provide counseling to students. These volunteers must pass a background check and their name and religious affiliation must be posted on the school’s website. This initiative has been openly supported by the governor.

Senate Bill 1764:

Increases penalties for street racing. The fine for the first offense is now $2,000, and instead of being a misdemeanor, the second offense will be considered a third-degree felony. Additionally, to discourage spectators from attending illegal events, the fine for them will also be increased from $65 to $400.

Ley 59 from the House of Representatives:

This legislation changes some rules surrounding homeowners associations. Specifically, the law requires homeowners associations to provide a physical or digital copy of their rules and covenants to each of their members by October 1, as well as to all new members in the future. Additionally, the law requires homeowners associations to provide an updated copy of their rules to their members whenever they are updated.

Senate Bill 1264:

Requires public schools to teach lessons on the history of communism, which will go into effect during the 2026-2027 school year. These lessons will affect students as young as kindergarten, although they should be appropriate for each age group.

Law 601 of the House of Representatives:

Prohibits civilian review boards from investigating law enforcement.

House Bill 49:

Allows 16- and 17-year-olds to work longer hours. The law maintains a 30-hour weekly work limit for teens during school hours, but parents, guardians, or school superintendents may waive this limit.

House Bill 7063:

This measure prevents anyone under the age of 21 from working as a stripper and establishes other laws in an effort to further combat human trafficking in the state.
