NY.- Harold Mauricio Poveda Ortega, alias “El Conejo”, testified this Wednesday in the trial of former Secretary of Public Security Genaro García Luna.

During the trial in Brooklyn, New York, Poveda asserted that he trafficked more than a thousand tons of cocaine into the United States.

“El Conejo” was the main supplier of cocaine for the Beltrán Leyva organization.

He also assured in the trial that he was escorted by Federal Police agents at the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) when he fled the country due to problems with Arturo Beltrán.

Yesterday, a former police officer narrated that the PF agents had a key to be able to transport drugs at the airport.

“El Conejo” was captured in Mexico City in November 2010 in Mexico City, where he was serving as a liaison between the Norte del Valle Cartel, in Colombia, and the Sinaloa Cartel. It was the main collaborator of Arturo Beltrán Leyva, “El Barbas”.

El Conejo” was extradited to the United States on February 17, 2012.
