So far the target of many questions, the Twitter algorithm should be unveiled next week.

While Elon Musk was suspected of modifying the Twitter algorithm to highlight his own tweets, he said on February 21 that the algorithm would be available in open source next week.

“Prepare to be initially disappointed when our algorithm goes open source next week, but it will improve quickly!” he tweeted.

It all started with a first tweet from the boss of Twitter, who criticized his opponents for criticizing him. He boasted of having “acquired the largest non-profit company in the world for 44 billion dollars”. Derek Smart, a Twitter user, obviously very aware of tech news, then asked him to reveal the Twitter algorithm so that he was “really impressed”.

Cascading novelties

Elon Musk therefore answered him. In turn, Derek Smith retorted ironically. “Oh my god! All is forgiven,” he replied.

It remains to be seen what form this announcement will take and whether Elon Musk will keep his word. Since his arrival at the head of Twitter, the billionaire has changed many features in the use of the social network. Now users have access to two different feeds: the “For You” feed which personalizes the tweets that appear and works under recommendations and the “Followings” feed which shows the latest tweets from followed accounts.

The appearance of the paid subscription Twitter Blue has also brought its share of changes between the possibility of modifying tweets or publishing videos of almost 60 minutes.
