Elon Musk just tweeted a video of a Tesla Model 3 nearly driving underwater in a flooded street. This is not the first time that we have seen one of its electric cars achieve such a feat, but the video remains impressive.

Today we came across a new and amazing video: we see a Tesla Model 3 driving through a heavily flooded street. A major risk for the driver who does not know what might be on the road. Tesla CEO Elon Musk also saw the clip and tweeted it, adding, ” The Car Aquatic “.

Elon Musk brags about the amphibious side of his Tesla Model 3

Sure, Tesla does not recommend driving in water, because, in addition to the direct danger of hitting something, there could be problems with the car in the future. Water is not necessarily a good thing on prolonged contact, whether inside the car or for the engine.

Electric cars, compared to ordinary cars with internal combustion engines, however, have neither air intakes for the engine nor an exhaust pipe. This is why we have already seen many videos of these electric cars driving – partly – under water.

A few weeks ago, we saw an impressive video of a Tesla Model 3 going through a heavy flood in China. Last year, we also reported that a Model 3 had crossed a street under water. In the middle of Hurricane Ian, driver Jeremy Judkins also filmed himself driving on a flooded road in his Tesla Model X.

But the real tsunami is probably ahead of us. The Tesla Cybertruck, Tesla’s next electric pickup, would — according to Elon Musk — be able to float for a while.
