Some companies have chosen to switch to a four-day week in order to offer a better quality of life to employees. The organization of work varies according to companies.

Amaury deMain, an executive at Structa, leaves at dawn, but with a smile. As for all employees of his company, the working week will now end on Thursday evening. “I can’t wait, on Friday morning, to be able to drop my children off at school, pick them up between noon and two, and pick them up in the evening”, he said. He supervises the production of a carpentry, near Valence (Drôme). The proposed market is simple: one working day less, a week reduced to 32 hours instead of 39 and for the same salary, on condition of producing as much as before.

Several formulas according to the companies

Enough to motivate employees, and to retain new ones. The company has imposed a new organization of work, and new habits: working hours regulated by the minute, timed breaks or even limited meetings. An administration in Picardy has also tried the experiment. Here, there is no reduction in working time: the days last 9 hours, not including the lunch break. Out of 200 eligible employees, only three opted for the condensed four-day week.
