Mexico City.- Mexico, the United States and Canada agreed during the Summit this week on uniformity in energy policies, revealed the Secretary of the Interior, Adán Augusto López Hernández.

“It was also agreed that there would be a kind of transition or consolidation of the energy policy of the three countries and that there would be uniformity, especially considering the requirements that we as a country have and those of the United States and Canada,” he said.

In an interview, at the end of the meeting with the Governor of Puebla, Sergio Salomón Céspedes Peregrina, and local authorities, he reiterated that the case of some dissatisfied Canadian companies will be reviewed.

“The case of some Canadian companies that, although they have come, have invested, have not really been able to start operations, due to legal issues or interpretations, will be reviewed,” he said.

“And the idea is to create the conditions so that this investment can finally start producing.”

During the Mexico-Canada bilateral, President Andrés Manuel López Obrador offered his counterpart, Justin Trudeau, to receive Canadian companies that have disagreements on energy matters, in order to open a channel for dialogue.

López Hernández gave an account of other agreements during the North American Leaders Summit, such as urgent attention to the immigration problem and the allocation of more resources for this task.

“The proposal was made there, by President López Obrador, that the United States will review, via Congress, he specifically asked President Biden to insist before the Chamber of Deputies, the House of Representatives, in the approval, let’s say, or in the regularization of the many Mexican migrants in the United States,” he mentioned.

“That was an agreement, strategies were agreed upon, for example, to combat fentanyl trafficking; a working group was also created, in terms of promoting the conditions for regional integration, in which each country had to propose to four members.”
