After a lot has been going on in Wattenscheid since mid-2022 due to the relaxation of the corona virus, the full program is now to start in the new year as in previous years. As Corona wants.
Advertising community Wattenscheid has big plans
In any case, the advertising community Wattenschaft says: “We have planned a lot this year and now want to get off to a flying start,” announces the new chairwoman Sabine Theis – of course in the hope that everything can go as planned in the WAT-City.
And please note the following dates for this year: It’s about the big summer festival from June 16th to 18th. And then of course the traditional Wattenscheid Wine Festival from September 15th to 17th – it would be the 37th edition.

Sabine Theis had already started to rotate a lot last year, because the preparation had been very difficult, mainly due to the corona virus, “the lead time was very short, because of Corona we didn’t know for a long time whether the Wattenscheid Wine Festival could take place at all”. Back then, people “really rowed”, but everything then took place perfectly, as always, with a great fireworks show on the Alter Markt. Everything could be easier this time, because the risk of corona seems to have been banned – although nobody can foresee the development.
Lots of visitors in Wattenscheid-City
In any case, the preparations are now underway so that these two events can take place in Wattenscheider City as always in front of a large backdrop – and with an attractive stage and fireworks program, which should also attract as many visitors as possible to the battered city center. Because retail also has a hard time cracking here, also on and under the consequences of the pandemic. Wattenscheid has been meeting for decades, especially at the wine festival. And the summer party has already established itself as an important part of the WAT calendar. So it will be interesting to see what is on offer here to attract all Wattenscheiders.
RCA concert again on the Wattenscheid open-air stage
Another major event in Wattenscheid is the Rock Classic Allstars (RCA) concert in front of over 2000 visitors. This time it starts on August 5th – as always on the open-air stage on Parkstrasse, despite all the differences in the previous year due to noise protection regulations. Because at that time there was an abrupt end shortly after 10 p.m., which had severely disappointed all visitors. Also the organizer Heinz Heinemann. But the Bochumer Veranstaltungs-GmbH and Heinemann then made peace so that this event can now take place there again in the open air and in a unique natural setting. Advance sales have started, tickets cost 33 euros (box office 35 euros).
