Further investigation on horse racing: a look back at the Andrea Marcialis affair
During the report, Further investigation looks back on certain doping cases and mentions in particular the Prix de Montgeron, on August 31, 2020 in Saint-Cloud. That day, Bosioh, a 3-year-old thoroughbred, then good last, finally won the race at the last moment. The horse belongs to the stable of Andrea Marcialis, one of the greatest trainers in France. One of its employees, who testifies with a covered face, reveals what she believes happened before the raceas she accompanied her boss to the stable: “I didn’t know what was in the syringe. Warned, the commissioners of the racecourse carried out a check on the horse. The test came back positive for a prohibited product: butyl glucuronide. Andrea Marcialis will be suspended for 9 months.

Flaws in the fight against doping?
Another shock testimony: that of Jacques Nardin. For twenty years, this veterinarian, formerly employed by French racing companies, has been issuing alerts on several cases of obstruction to anti-doping control classified without further action: “I can only observe that these things remain in files. I knocked on every door, got absolutely no return“, he laments. And when the journalist asks him if he does not have the impression of disturbing, Jacques Nardin is categorical: “Not only am I disturbing but pissing everyone off, that’s for sure.
