A tragic accident occurred today at the level of the east-west highway linking the wilaya of Skikda and Costantine, more precisely in Djbel El Ouahch. Indeed, a tank truck carrying gasoline skidded and overturned, causing a violent explosion.
According to a video that went around the web, we were able to discover a chaotic scene, with flames rising in the sky and thick black smoke enveloping the accident area. As a result, the civil protection teams quickly intervened, but unfortunately the driver of the truck did not survive the explosion.
His body was already found charred and was taken to the morgue at the Ibn Badis hospital.
Explosion of a truck: 38 agents were mobilized
According to Lieutenant Lakraa, responsible for information and communication at the Civil Protection Directorate, the identity of the victim and his age have not yet been determined. Indeed, the vehicle was completely dislocated in several pieces, indicated the person in charge.
In the same wake, the spokesperson affirmed that no other secondary accident was recorded following the explosion. In this sense, the same official mentioned 38 agents, including 5 officers and a doctor who were mobilized to intervene at the scene of the accident. This without forgetting the participation of the units of Sissaoui Slimat, reinforced by the main units of Ali Mendjeli and Zighoud Youcef.
As part of the same operation, seven fire engines and three ambulances were used to extinguish the blaze. It should be noted that the local authorities, in particular the wali of the wilaya and the director of Civil Protection, went on site to assess the extent of the losses.
