Family of missing pilot tries to acquire sonar to expedite the search

The family of the young Oswald A. Fuentes Román tries to raise funds to purchase specialized equipment to help in the search for the remains of the pilot and his flight companion, Carl Reichard Stubbe.

It is a sonar capable of detecting submerged metals, which has a cost of $35,000, for which they opened the “Go Fund Me” account under the title “Pro-Funds Search for Missing Pilots in PR.” The family assures that, once they finish using it, they will donate the equipment to local agencies that respond to this type of emergency.

The search that is concentrated near St. Thomas has been suspended since last Sunday, due to weather conditions.

The plane, which disappeared on August 4 while traveling back to Puerto Rico, originally took off from the Rafael Hernández Airport in Aguadilla.

They search, by air and sea, for any trace that indicates people or the machine.
